Lighthouse was contracted to assist Enterprise/EPCO with the proper management of NORM related waste that had accumulated at their Hobbs, NM Fractionator facility. Lighthouse collected several representative samples from the waste material and conducted a NORM survey of the area where the waste had been accumulating. Lighthouse then mobilized to the facility to properly package and label the material and then complete the appropriate manifesting, loading, transportation and disposal of the waste to a permitted low level radioactive waste facility in Hanford, WA. The project also involved the demolition of a furnace unit that contained NORM. The furnace pieces also had to be properly packaged, labeled, loaded, transported and dispose of at the Hanford, WA disposal site. The overall project involved compliance with state, DOT and NRC regulatory guidelines.
