Lighthouse was contracted to remediate hydrocarbon impacted soil at several Natural Gas Compressor Stations. The project consisted of remediating soil at various depths, to a maximum depth of 22 feet below ground surface, in-situ with BET. The Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) concentrations at the sites range from 290 mg/kg to as high as 73,000 mg/kg. In addition, the soil matrix varied extensively. The treated soils varied from: sandy silt, tight fat clay, to lean clay with gravel and shale.
The remediation efforts were quick and non-invasive with minimal mobilizations to each site. As the illustration below illustrates, the hydrocarbon impacted soil was successfully remediated within 40 days.
The application of BET successfully enhanced the natural degradation of TPH in soil. After 40-days, the average TPH concentration across the different sites dropped 99.9%
